We had bright, blue skies, but still somewhat cool temperatures for my American museum of Natural History bird walk group this morning. Between 7 and 9 am we found 38 species in the Ramble. Highlights below.
Northern Shoveler (8, the Lake)
Bufflehead (male, Turtle Pond)
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker (both sexes, various locations)
Eastern Phoebe (1, Turtle Pond)
Brown Creeper (1, near feeders)
Hermit Thrush (several)
Pine Warbler (1, Belvedere Castle)
Eastern Towhee (2, Maintenance Meadow and north of Azalea Pond)
Field Sparrow (1, Maintenance Meadow)
Fox Sparrow (1, north of the Gill)
Swamp Sparrow (2, the Gill and Laupot Bridge)
Rusty Blackbird (4, Azalea Pond and along the Gill to Laupot)
