Manhattanhenge

According to Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist at the American Museum of Natural History:

"Next Sunday and on July 12, the sun will fully illuminate every Manhattan cross street (not the curved or angled ones) on the street grid during the last 15 minutes of daylight, and it will set on each street's center line. The sight is breathtaking."

He added:

"New Yorkers need to take advantage of as many opportunities to look at the sky as they can."

Here's a tip: Don't try to watch this from the west side. The spectacle is to see the sun setting across the entire grid of Manhattan. First Avenue is the place.
