A sign of spring or garbage?

This morning [4/5/13] Rebekah Creshkoff reports: 

Today heard a flicker, a kingfisher, and may have seen a Great Egret from a distance! (I was cycling by Pool and saw a likely-shaped white blob on far shore, but it neither showed its neck nor moved during the brief interval I saw it, so it may have been a plastic bag instead.)

Note:

Since her Great Egret sighting is uncertain, and the flicker might have overwintered, the true sign of spring in Rebekah's report is the KINGFISHER.
