Central Park feeder birds ---- Photos by Ardith Bondi

All photos were taken at the Evodia Field feeding station on January 29, 2009
(the last bird of the series might be called a "feeder bird" feeder.)

First spring song!!

Photo of House Finch by Lloyd Spitalnik
Central Park - 9/28/06 [remember: dipped in strawberry juice]

Yesterday Jack Meyer sent the message I've been waiting for:

Housefinches were singing energetically early this morning, [2/1/09] even before the big warm-up began. Jack

PS As John Blakeman often reminds us, as spring approaches it's not the rising temperatures that brings on birds' breeding behavior. It's the increasing amount of daylight.
