The annual Phoebe Challenge

The Eastern Phoebes are beginning to arrive in the New York City area. Today Rob Jett [citybirder@earthlink.net] reported  the sighting of a pair of phoebes in Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery.  And now for the annual challenge: Who will spot the first Central Park Phoebe?

The 19th year of Fatherhood commences*

Pale Male & mate [Octavia] on nest on Sunday, March 9, 2014

The news was first reported on the PaleMale.com web site:
"Octavia appears to have laid at least one egg. She did not leave the nest all afternoon."

And that news was reported to me this morning by photographer Murray Head. Many, many thanks, Murray!

* Pale Male's first chicks were hatched in 1995. Next year we'll have to celebrate a 20th anniversary.
