The Migration is on!!

July 26, 2013: 

This morning I saw a Northern Waterthrush just south of Hernshead and a Louisiana Waterthrush between Azalea pond and Laupot Bridge.

Otherwise, juveniles and adults of various spp including:
Northern Flicker
Gray Catbird
Carolina Wren
Warbling Vireo

Catching a bug

When Murray Head, the photographer, wrote me to find out why my blog hadn't appeared for a while, I replied: "Sorry, but I caught a bug on my way back from my trip. I'm just about over it so I'll be posting again soon."  

Murray replied: "Glad that you are recovering. But you know that you can catch a bug in Central Park too."

PS What is that bug? [The one the hawk is about to devour, not the one I caught on the plane.] I'd say it's a Stag Beetle
