Murray sees Great Horned Owl in Ramble

MURRAY HEAD photographed the owl below on Wednesday, December 10, 2010 . You can see by the mace-like fruiting bodies in the background that the tree is a sweetgum. The most recent GHO in Central Park was seen on November 16th in the same sweetgum. I'd say it's possible that this bird has been around since then, though it has not been seen since Wednesday...

MURRAY HEAD on the beginning of winter

Hi Marie,

At the beginning of September I sent this photo
which clearly indicates where Fall begins in The Park.

I have today determined where it will end: Bow Bridge

When this leaf falls... it is the signal that will welcome Winter.

It is the only leaf on the entire tree.

I heard this from some residents who know the importance of red.
